Phonics & Reading | Faringdon Infant SchoolIn school, we teach phonics using the Letters and Sounds programme, supported by the use of the Ruth Miskin's 'Read Write Inc' rhymes and strategies. We supplement this teaching further by using actions, stories, songs and games. It is designed to give the children experience of a variety of different styles of writing and authors. There are fiction and non-fiction books within each level. Books are shared with the class by their teacher to encourage this further. We also have an author of the term and provide books by this author for teachers to share with their class. Each year parents are invited to attend a welcome meeting in which our approach to phonics and reading are shared.
