Fire Storm - Andrew Lane

Snake Bite

THREE people die in a town due to snakebite but Young Sherlock Holmes has reasons to believe that it was the work of one snake that comes and goes without getting detected; has an ulterior motive and is part of a bigger plan. Like the other four books in the Young Sherlock Holmes series, this book shows why Sherlock Holmes turned out to be the eccentric detective he became famous for. Be it learning an ancient martial art fighting technique in China, decoding secret messages or fighting off villains like never before, Sherlock does it all in Snake Bite. There is also a strange snake that bites people and then exits the room without leaving a trace — and there is no secret passage involved! The author stays close to the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the world of the Sherlock Holmes era by being accurate and interesting at the same time. Not once does the reader get bored; not once does the reader think about putting the book down — such is the grip of the narrative.

Young Sherlock Holmes 5: Snake Bite Synopsis

Book reviews: January-March. 10 books, 12 minutes

Kidnapped and taken to China, Sherlock finds himself plunged into mystery. How can three men be bitten by the same poisonous snake in different parts of Shanghai? Who wants them dead, and why? The answer seems to lie in a message hidden in a diagram like a spider's web. But solving it leads to an even more urgent question: what has all this got to do with a plot to blow up an American warship? Sherlock is about to brave terrors greater than any he has faced before

After returning from an adventure in Scotland, taking down a psychopath, Sherlock is kidnapped by old enemies, the Paradol Chamber, and taken aboard a ship called the Gloria Scott, which is sailing to Shanghai. On the way they get caught in a storm and get attacked by pirates. When he gets there he meets a young American boy, then a friend from the ship is killed and he is thrown into an adventure that may end up in an early World War One. Sherlock Holmes… is a young, adventurous boy who can solve puzzles faster than you can say 'I'm not amused'. Cameron, liked Sherlock from the moment he met him so when his father is killed, Sherlock helps by solving the mystery. Wu Fung-Yi, is devastated when his father is killed, so he agrees to help find the culprit. Mr Artemis, drinks liquid silver to stop him catching any illnesses.
