Boy was i proved wrong with this one. While i'm glad to have finally come to the end of this series, i really think this was one of the weaker books in the series. In typical Lockwood and Co. Then, time and time again, Lucy reminds us of how suave Lockwood is, how put together he is, oh that smile, oh that fearlessness, oh the bravery, the way the wind always seemed to tousle his hair, unflappable demeanour wait am i repeating myself? That's exactly what that Lucy character did every freaking time. When you're first introduced to her, she seems capable, good head on her shoulders, basically a good female lead that's sure to kick ass.

The Screaming Staircase is a middle grade thriller novel by Jonathan Stroud. The story is set in an alternate modern day London which experiences an event called "the Problem", where ghosts appear throughout the city by nighttime and attack the living. Agencies have arisen to fend off the ghosts and protect the public, for a fee, but put themselves in extreme danger in the process. However, only children and teenagers have the "talent" to sense the ghosts; they gradually lose this once they reach their twenties. And so the agencies under with the leadership of people who have passed their ghost-sensitive ages and with the youth whose talents are instrumental in solving a haunting.
