Tooth and Nail: A Novel Approach to the SAT
Abate, abhor, abject, abridge, abstemious Good, because now there's a better way to learn all those words than plowing through those never-ending vocabulary lists devised by torture experts. Follow Caitlin and Phil's exploits as they wend their way through their first year of college and find intrigue behind the curtain of academia. As you do, you'll find a few words in boldface, each of which is defined and compared with other words in a glossary in the back of the book. Seeing the word in its context and immediately finding a definition is a much more satisfying way to learn than just to read word after unconnected word--you might as well read the dictionary! A preface explains in greater detail how best to use the book, and there are helpful SAT-style exercises in antonyms, analogies, and comprehension, so this makes a great all-around verbal package for the serious test-taker.
Good choice, Bill. I'll have to see if I can pick some more of them up as it's been a long time since I read one. Post a Comment. In his best novels, two of which are included in the volume pictured here, Bill S. Ballinger used the technique of telling what appear to be two different stories in alternating chapters of first- and third-person narration. Eventually the stories intersect in a way that's almost certain to surprise the reader.

Thank you! Tricks and more tricks spot this double level story for the court room scenes alternate with the first person narrative of Lewis Mountain, a magician whose young bride had become entangled with a counterfeiting set-up.
The now hard-to-find tome was considered a masterfully crafted example of the mystery genre in its time, and was unique in that it alternated chapters in different voices first and third person until the conclusion, when the two different narratives melded together and tied up the plot. The actor is said to have decided on the project because he took a liking to the script, about a magician who meets a woman, gets married, and is on his way towards living a relatively normal life, until life decides to throw him some serious curveballs. The mystery builds from there — and my curiosity is piqued. The Tooth and the Nail will be directed by Jeong Shik one of the directors of the omnibus picture Epitaph and is garnering interest due to the Ballinger story the plot pays homage to. Once production has cast the female lead and supporting cast, the movie will begin filming in the latter half of the year. Via StarNews. Tags: Han Seok-kyu.
