The Cracked Spine: A Scottish Bookshop Mystery | San Francisco Book Review

I reached up for a bar to grab, but there wasn't one there. It was on the side panel instead, next to the door that opened in what seemed like the wrong direction. I settled myself on the seat and tried to put my feet in better spots so as to save my body from being propelled out of the cab. There were no seat belts in the backseat to hold me in place. My safety would depend upon luck and my personal sense of balance. Hold tight, there's 'nother sharp curve ahead. We'el be there shortly.

The Cracked Spine (Scottish Bookshop Mystery, #1) . A mystery set in Edinburgh, a bucket list city for me, in a bookshop with a young American from Kansas.

The Cracked Spine: A Scottish Bookshop Mystery

The lowest-priced brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging where packaging is applicable. Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See details for additional description. Interesting concept of an American going to work in a Scottish Bookstore. Lota of characters and plots.

Delaney Nichols is on the literary adventure of a lifetime when she leaves the States for Edinburgh, Scotland, to take a job at The Cracked Spine. Never did Delaney think that her dream job would turn into a living nightmare. The characters are engaging especially Delaney, Edwin, and Tom and the mystery plots are engaging. I learned a great deal also - about old manuscripts, auctions for old manuscripts, restoring old manuscripts, and so forth. The bookshop and city are both described so well that I can clearly picture them in my mind. I highly recommend The Cracked Spine by Paige Shelton to all fans of cozy mysteries, especially those who are also fans of cozies set in the UK. I can't wait to read the next book in the Scottish Bookshop Mystery series!
